Borussia Mönchengladbach wins 64th Otten Cup

Interesting finale
In the first half RSC Anderlecht had the most dangerous opportunities. The game went from one goal to the other on a pitch that was a bit slippery because of the rain earlier today. Just before half-time Borussia Mönchengladbach created two good opportunities, but it stayed 0-0.
After the break the overall image of the match was the same as in the first half, except for the fact that the first chance ment a goal this time. Jordan Gareia Calvete shot a rebound-ball hard into the goal: 1-0. The Belgians couldn't enjoy their lead for a long time, because two minutes after their goal, Christopher Zimmermannn scored the equalizer. Anderlecht had a bit of an advantage, but Gladbach was much more dangerous.
Full-time and still 1-1 ment penalties had to decide who would win. The Germans were a bit luckier, Mario Hesse scored the deciding goal against goalkeeper Roef.
Second Otten Cup Borussia Mönchengladbach
And that is how, for the second time in its history, the Otten Cup went to Borussia Mönchengladbach, and for the fourth time to a German team. Bayer Leverkussen (1993) and VfB Stuttgart (2001) were the earlier winners. Borussia Mönchengladbach won the tournament in 1969 for the first time.
