Early goals bring victory at day one
On the first day of the Otten Cup tournament, victory was brought by early goals In the first match there was even a goal in the very first minute!
Pão de Açúcar kicked off against Sparta and when the Brazilians played the ball in their defense, Kadir Hassan Yusufa of the Rotterdam side got a foot to the ball and managed to score. Before half time the Brazilians came back to 1-1, when they scored a free kick. Although Pão de Açúcar were the better team, Sparta got the win. Therefore the 3-1 win may be a bit more than they deserved.

In the other match in Poule A, a quick goal brought victory for FC Twente after they went into the lead after five minutes through a goal by Cas Peters. Although both teams had opportunities, the score remained the same. Sparta lead in Poule A after day 1, followed by FC Twente.
PSV lead after day 1 in Poule B. After a solid win over Tottenham Hotspur, they are the only team with three points. PSV scored after just a few minutes with Milos Djordjevic scoring after putting pressure on the Tottenham defender. Before half-time there were a few big chances for Kudus Oyenuga, but neither goalkeeper Benjamin van Leer, or the PSV defense managed to stand in the way of his efforts. Minutes into the second half a free kick passed to Gianluca Maria in the box was scored to make it 2-0. PSV stayed calm and got a well deserved win.

The other game between Ajax and Borussia Mönchengladbach was undecided, the highlight being a strike that came off post courtesy of Jody Lukoki from Ajax. The match ended in 0-0.
On Saturday there are two more games for each team, so decisions will be made about who will make it to the finals.
