Na de pauze was het verzet van Sunderland gebroken. Opnieuw Hesse wist de score te verdubbelen. Na een knappe rush van de sterke Kadiata krijgt Göttel een niet te missen kans. Deze doet dat dan ook niet en tilt de stand naar 3-0. The match started at a slow pace, with Mönchengladbach beeing the better side. The germans managed to exploit their advantage after 25 minutes of play. Hesse heads the ball behind goalie Pcikford. The remaining minutes of the first half, both teams get a few chances but neither team scores. After the break Sunderlands resistance was broken. It was again Hesse who doubles the german lead. A beautiful rush by Kadiata creates a golden opportunity for Göttel 3-0. The final goal of the match was scored by Mickels. With this victory last years winners Borussia Mönchengladbach progress to the semi finals. Sunderland finishes third in Poule A and they will play Sparta Rotterdam for fifth place. |
