Bij aanvang van de wedstrijd RSC Anderlecht tegen Red Bull Bragantino was voor het Belgische team al duidelijk dat plaatsing voor de halve finales niet meer mogelijk was. Maar we hoorden coach David Huburt vanmorgen al zeggen dat hij de poulefase wel graag positief wilde afsluiten. Voor de Brazilianen stond er weldegelijk nog wat op het spel.

De eerste grote kans van de wedstrijd was voor Red Bull Bragantino, maar Filipe Gabriel Rios Rodrigues wist zijn medespeler voor de goal niet te vinden. Diezelfde Filipe Gabriel Rios Rodrigues sneed even later het zestienmetergebied binnen, maar zijn schot stuitte op de vuisten van keeper Rutgeerts.
Na ruim een kwartier effectieve speeltijd werd Gabriel da Silva Lopes (Red Bull Bragantino) vrijgezet voor de keeper, maar oog in oog met de Belgische keeper faalde hij. Uit de daaropvolgende corner was het wel raak. Filipe Gabriel Rios Rodrigues kopte de 0-1 binnen.

In de 30e minuut kreeg Anderlecht de uitgelezen kans om op gelijke hoogte te komen. Een overtreding van Danilo Lucas da Silva Augusto werd met een penalty en een gele kaart bestraft. Het was Sylla die de penalty onberispelijk binnen schoot en Anderlecht op 1-1 bracht.

Na ruim een half uur werd een voorzet van de Brazilianen bij de tweede paal ingebracht; de lange aanvoerder Kaue Ricardo da Silva kopte bij de tweede paal knap binnen en zette Red Bull Bragantino op een 2-1 voorsprong.
Vlak voor tijd zeilde een vlammend schot van Anderlecht-spits Sylla nog net langs, maar het was voor de Belgen onvoldoende om nog op gelijke hoogte komen.

Zo sloot Anderlecht de groepsfase af zonder punten; Red Bull Bragantino zit nog volop in de race.

Shortly before the end, Anderlecht striker Sylla unleashed a powerful shot that narrowly missed, but it wasn't enough for the Belgians to draw level.
