| Just like in 2007 and 2008 SC Heerenveen is present this year at the Otten Cup tournament. The Frysians failed to impress last year. In the groupstage SC Heerenveen lost to Feyenoord and Cruzeiro, but defeated the latter winner FC Twente/Heracles. They finished last of their group. In the 7th place play-off match they lost 1-0 to hosts PSV, which meant the Frysian club finished last. Heerenveen proved to be a real cup fighter last season. For the second year running they reached the Nike Cup for U19 final. Twice by beating the dutch outfit of Ajax. Via an superb 3-0 victory, Heerenveen became the cupwinner. In the league they also stood their ground. Playing for the title for most part of the season, before eventually finishing fourth. |
