| Pão de Açúcar from Brasil is participating for the second time in the Otten Cup. Last year they finished third after they were defeated in the semi-finals by winner FC Twente/Heracles. The Dutch footballfields are not unknown for the Brazilians. They took part several times at the tournament in Varsseveld, which they won in 2006 through defeating PSV in the final after penalties. The club is a football-academy that was founded by the director of Pão de Açúcar, one of the largest supermarket-chains in South-America. The director wanted to do something in return for the society and because he is a big football-fan, he decided to found a professional football-academy. From across São Paulo about 72.000 young football-players participated in the SuperCopa CompreBrem, an extended competition and selectionprocedure. Finaly 72 players have been selected for the program, named SuperBola Program. One of the sponsors of the SuperBola is multiple Brazilian international Cafu. |
