Belgian football club RSC Anderlecht is name after the Brussel district, Anderlecht. The club was founded in 1908 and the club colors became purple and white. Home games are played at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium, named after the former famous chairman. At present his son Roger is the chairman at the purple and whites. At its 25th anniversary, the club received the Royal title and is named Royal SC Anderlechtois ever since. Since 1935 Anderlecht never relegated for Belgians top flight. Last year the club missed out on their 30th league title. After being tied at equal points, the club lost the play-off match for the title to Standard Liege. Besides the 29 league titles, Anderlecht has also won 9 Belgian Cups, 8 Belgian Supercups, 2 Europa Cup II and 1 Uefa Cup, being the most successful Belgian team in history. |
